Dress For success

For those of us who used to work in the business world, or in the work force in general might find this of interest.

After I started having my children and knew I wasn’t going back to work I found myself overloaded with a lot of clothes I wouldn’t, or rather couldn’t wear.  I mean after all, who can wear a 3 piece business suit and heels while holding 2 babies and catching puke while preggo’s with number three right?  Not to mention my feet swelled so bad, and my size had changed that there wasn’t much of my pre-pregnancy clothes that I could fit!

So, after a while, I had to figure out what I was going to do with my business wardrobe and two of my friends got me onto this group:   http://www.dressforsuccess.org/

Dress for Success Worldwide is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women located in 85 cities across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the Netherlands and New Zealand. The professional clothing, employment retention programs and ongoing support that we provide our clients symbolize our faith in every woman’s ability to be self-sufficient and successful in her career.

They take a lot of items, like shoes, jewlery, purses, and clothes (nice ones though, we’re not talking about old jeans).

I thought this was really important to help out my fellow sisters who were down on their luck and just needed a hand up.   You may have been there yourself at one point in your life and wished for help like this.

For me this was the easiest donation to make because I know they will be valuing their new items and their self-esteem will rise from it.  I’ve been excited to donate over the past few years to this group, and to offer my friends to leave their extras with me to donate as well.

So if you’re doing winter cleaning, fall cleaning, or what not, why not take a few minutes, and see if there is a group near you to help out some of the local ladies who really could use it!  Not only are you recycling, but I believe this a God-honoring way to share our wealth and help those in need.
